Gran Fondo Les Sybelles La Toussuire

The rebirth of La Trilogie de Maurienne

La Trilogie de Maurienne, a legendary cycling race that took place in the heart of La Maurienne, was born 30 years ago. This iconic cycling region, with its many mountain passes made famous by the Tour de France, is being reborn this year as the Gran Fondo Les Sybelles La Toussuire.

To mark this revival, the stages of this world-renowned cycling competition will start in La Toussuire.

On 14 July 2026, you will have a choice of three different tours.

This route takes you on an assault on one of the Maurienne’s landmarks, the Lacets de Montvernier!

The little twists and turns, piled one on top of the other, clinging to the mountain, make up one of the most spectacular roads in Savoie, and a real challenge for cyclists.

With almost 300 metres of elevation gain to cover in just over 3 kilometres, the 18 hairpin bends should not be underestimated, and you need to save your energy to power up to the small village of Montvernier.

Once back down into the valley via La Tour en Maurienne, you’ll head back towards St Jean de Maurienne and the Opinel roundabout, the starting point for the famous Montée de La Toussuire!

This route takes you on an assault on one of the legends of Maurienne, the Lacets de Montvernier. After a mandatory neutralised start from La Toussuire behind the lead car, you will pass through St Jean de Maurienne before heading towards the Lacets de Montvernier.

The small winding roads, stacked one on top of the other, clinging to the mountainside, form one of the most spectacular routes in Savoie and a real challenge for competitive cyclists.

Once you reach the summit, a beautiful descent awaits you as you head back to St Jean de Maurienne and climb the Col de la Confrérie with its famous 52 hairpin bends. Once in Albiez Montrond, take advantage of the refreshments in the village below the Col du Mollard to recharge your batteries and admire the view of the Aiguilles d’Arves.

The return to La Toussuire will be via Villarembert and Le Corbier, bringing back memories of the golden age of French cycling!
