Gran Fondo Les Sybelles La Toussuire TDM2023
A cyclosportive starting in La Toussuire with 3 formats on offer: 55km, 88km and 132km with legendary passes such as the Col de La Croix-de-Fer.
52km route - 1,500M D+ :
This route takes you on an assault on one of the emblems of the Maurienne, the Lacets de Montvernier!
The little laces, piled one on top of the other, clinging to the mountain, make up one of the most spectacular routes in Savoie, and a real challenge for cyclosportifs.
With almost 300m of D+ to swallow in just over 3km, the 18 hairpin bends are not to be underestimated and you need to keep your pedal power up to leap up to the little village of Montvernier.
Once back down into the valley via La Tour en Maurienne, you'll head back towards St Jean de Maurienne and the Opinel roundabout, the starting point for the famous Montée de la Toussuire!
Route 88KM - 2 600M D+ :
This route takes you on an assault on the most beautiful passes in the Maurienne. After a compulsory, neutralised start from La Toussuire behind the opening car, you will cross St Jean de Maurienne before heading for St Etienne de Cuines.
You'll start the day by climbing the fearsome Col du Glandon at an altitude of 1,924m. More isolated and quiet than its peers, you climb it from the north. To reach the top, you'll need to pedal for 20km on an average gradient of 7.2%, and save your energy for the last few hairpin bends where the gradients soar.
Once you reach the summit, you'll take the link to the Col de la Croix de Fer, where you'll be able to recharge your batteries at the refreshment station. After around 25 kilometres downhill to the valley, you'll turn left towards La Toussuire for the final climb of the day, the Montée de la Toussuire !
Route 132KM - 3 300M D+ :
This route is the showcase of the Gran Fondo Les Sybelles la Toussuire: mythical passes, legendary roads, breathtaking panoramas and a good dose of sportiness!
Although this route is reserved for very good cyclists used to long efforts, there's nothing to stop you from challenging yourself by taking the start of this event.
After a compulsory, neutralised start from La Toussuire behind the opening car, you will cross St Jean de Maurienne before heading for La Chambre. Before arriving there, a quick glance to your right will allow you to appreciate the beauty of the Lacets de Montvernier that you will be climbing. Continue on to Epierre before turning around to tackle the first difficulty of the day and the first real gradients. On the way back to St Etienne de Cuines, you'll begin the ascent of the fearsome Col du Glandon at an altitude of 1,924m. More isolated and quiet than its rivals, you climb it from the north. To reach the top, you'll need to pedal for 20km on an average gradient of 7.2%, and save your energy for the final twists and turns where the gradients soar.
Once at the summit, head for the Col de la Croix de Fer for a refreshment stop. Make the most of the descent into the valley via St Sorlin d'Arves to get your legs moving and get back in the swing of things until you reach the foot of the Montée de la Toussuire. Another refreshment point awaits you halfway up the climb, at Fontcouverte la Toussuire, before you put in your last effort and reach the finish line!
