Travelling to La Toussuire in a motorhome

Would you like to explore La Toussuire and the stunning landscapes of the Savoie mountains in a motorhome? Good news: you can certainly stay at our resort.

A dedicated venue for you!

For a motorhome holiday in La Toussuire, the resort has a campsite which welcomes many visitors every year who come to explore the mountain landscapes of the Maurienne and enjoy activities all year round.

Situated at the entrance to the resort, Camping Le Col*** enjoys a prime location with unobstructed views of the majestic Aiguilles d’Arves.

Open in both summer and winter, it offers 30 ‘Caravaneige’ pitches during the winter season as well as 27 pitches dedicated to motorhomes and caravans during the summer, catering to the varied needs of travellers.

In winter, a free shuttle bus, located just 80 metres from the campsite, provides easy access to the resort centre, shops and ski lifts.

Good to know

In La Toussuire, motorhomes are only permitted to park in the resort’s car parks on a day-use basis. For overnight stays, please use the designated pitches at the campsite. A motorhome-only car park is also available at the Corbier resort.

Where to change the oil in your motorhome near La Toussuire?

For vehicle maintenance and refuelling, a service area equipped with a Flot Bleu charging point is available in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne on Place Champ de Foire, 17 km from La Toussuire.

This service area allows you to:

  • Refilling with drinking water (takes approximately 20 minutes).
  • Emptying of waste water.
  • Emptying toilet cassettes.

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round, it offers a convenient solution before or after your stay in the mountains.

Charge: €4 per use.
Payment method: credit card only.

Coming by motorhome In winter in La Toussuire

Driving in the mountains in winter can raise a few questions. From the Mountain Law to compulsory equipment and tips for driving on snow, find out everything you need to know to reach La Toussuire with complete peace of mind.

The law Mountain

From 1 November to 31 March, the regulations known as the ‘Mountain Law’ apply in the relevant mountainous areas.

This measure aims to improve road safety and facilitate traffic flow in winter conditions. It applies to all vehicles with four or more wheels, in particular:

  • Private cars.
  • Commercial vehicles.
  • Motorhomes.
  • Coaches and buses.
  • Heavy goods vehicles.

Before setting off for La Toussuire, make sure you have the right equipment for snowy and icy conditions.

The equipment authorised

You must have one of the following solutions installed:

Winter tyres

All four wheels of the vehicle must be fitted with tyres approved for winter driving.

Channels

Chains must be fitted to the drive wheels when conditions require it.

Socks

Textile socks are also a permitted solution when fitted to the drive wheels.

 Practical tip

Toensureyour snow chains or tyre chainslast as long as possible,remove themas soon as the roadis clear again.

From 1 November 2024, tyres bearing only the M+S (Mud + Snow) marking will no longer be accepted.

 Good to know

Although snow socks are permitted as winter equipment, we recommend that you use snow chains to reach the resort. More effective on snow-covered or icy roads, they may be required by the police when road conditions deteriorate. Carrying snow chains in your vehicle ensures you can tackle the climb up to La Toussuire with complete peace of mind.

Our advice for driving on snow

On start-up

Shift into second gear quickly after setting off to minimise wheel spin.

Acceleration

Accelerate gradually, preferably on a straight stretch of road to avoid wheel spin.

Speed

Drive at your own pace; there’s no point in trying to keep up with other cars – your pace is just right. Anticipate bends, avoid sudden changes of direction; a smooth driving style is best.

Braking

Use engine braking whenever possible to slow your vehicle down.
If you need to brake, do so gently and whilst driving in a straight line. Avoid sudden braking; never brake whilst cornering to prevent the car from spinning out.
