4-hour race from La Toussuire by Dare2b – Trail Competition

The 4 Hours of La Toussuire By Dare2B is a must-attend sporting event in the resort, bringing together runners, mountain lovers and those who relish high-altitude challenges. Whether you’re coming to push your limits, take on a personal challenge or share an intense experience with fellow enthusiasts, the 4 Hours of La Toussuire promises a thrilling sporting experience, where every lap counts and every climb feels like a victory!

The concept behind the 4-hour race in La Toussuire is as simple as it is demanding: to complete as many laps as possible on a mountain course over a four-hour period. Every lap presents a new challenge; every climb is a test of both physical and mental strength.

It’s not just about speed here, but about strategy, consistency and the ability to pace yourself over the long haul. It’s an ideal format for runners looking to challenge themselves in a different way and push their limits in a safe and motivating environment.

The route for the 4-hour race in La Toussuire is based on a simple yet highly effective format: a 1 km climb with 235 metres of elevation gain that passes beneath the Côte du Bois cable car. It’s a short but intense effort, ideal for building hill-climbing power and muscular endurance.

This type of climb provides excellent training for both trail runners and road runners. It helps to quickly build up cardiovascular fitness and improve the ability to pace oneself on steep terrain. When repeated throughout the race, it becomes a valuable tool for improvement, boosting strength endurance and the ability to sustain effort in the mountains.

The descent is made via the Côte du Bois cable car, allowing participants to recover quickly between each ascent whilst enjoying the scenery. This choice offers a real sporting advantage: it protects the joints and reduces the impact associated with technical descents, which are often very demanding in trail running. This allows you to focus your efforts on the ascent, optimise your performance and tackle successive climbs in better physical condition, whilst reducing the risk of excessive muscle fatigue or injury.

Taking part in the 4-hour race at La Toussuire by Dare2B couldn’t be easier:

Solo: You will be placed in either the women’s or men’s category.

Team : Since 2025, we have introduced a team competition. Teams consist of three people (from associations, clubs, works councils, families, etc.). The aim is to accumulate as much elevation gain as possible during the four-hour competition.

At the top of the course, a fully stocked refreshment station awaits you before you head back down in the cable car. This is designed to help you recover effectively between each ascent. You can enjoy a wide selection of sweet and savoury snacks: muesli bars, fruit jellies, fresh fruit, savoury biscuits, water and soft drinks to quickly replenish your energy after your exertions.

Designed with your comfort and performance in mind, this refreshment can be enjoyed on the spot whilst taking in the Alpine scenery, or taken with you to enjoy a quieter moment of rest during the cable car descent before setting off on another ascent.

Registration for the 4-hour race in La Toussuire can be done online. However, you can still register on the morning of the event, subject to availability. To make your arrival and race number collection as smooth as possible, we recommend arriving well in advance of the start.

To confirm your participation, you must present a valid medical certificate, a PPS (Health Prevention Programme) certificate or a valid FFA licence.

As for equipment, walking poles are permitted to help you on the most challenging sections of the climb. Remember to pack gear suitable for mountain weather conditions: sun protection (a cap, sunglasses). You should also bring a rain jacket or waterproofs in case the weather changes.
