\r\n Camping Caravaneige du Col<\/a>\r\n <\/h2>\r\n

<\/p>\r\n

The campsite of La Toussuire is 800m from the centre of the resort. This privileged site in the heart of Les Sybelles ski area offers a stunning view on the “Aiguilles d’Arves” moutains.\r\nQuiet and comfortable family campsite. Please note that at La Toussuire we only accept motorhomes in our car parks on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Where to drain your motorhome? <\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

A \u2018Borne Flot Bleu\u2019 service area is available at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. You’ll be able to fill up with clean water, which takes around 20 minutes, and there’s also an area for emptying cassettes and waste water.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

The terminal is available 24\/7 all year round. Allow \u20ac4 per use. Credit cards are the only means of payment accepted. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

In winter <\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Since 1 November 2021, the French government has passed a law called the \u2018mountain law\u2019. This requires vehicles travelling through or living in the areas covered by this law to have special equipment, with the aim of improving traffic flow in mountainous regions and enhancing your safety. All vehicles with four or more wheels are covered<\/strong> by this obligation: light vehicles, vans, motorhomes, coaches, buses and HGVs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

This law applies from 1st November to 31st March<\/strong> each year. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Mandatory equipment<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Specific equipment : <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– Snow tyres<\/strong>: All 4 wheels<\/strong> of the vehicle must be fitted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– Chains<\/strong>: Chains must be fitted to the vehicle’s drive wheels<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– Socks<\/strong>: The pair of socks must be fitted to the vehicle’s drive wheels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

To prolong the life of your chains and socks, they should only be fitted when the roads are snow-covered; when the tarmac reappears, remove them. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Driving on snow <\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Our advice for a smooth ascent in the snow: <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– Try to switch to the second gear quickly<\/strong> after starting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– Accelerate gradually<\/strong>, preferably in a straight line to avoid skidding. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– For braking, engine braking is essential<\/strong>. If you have to brake, do it gradually<\/strong>, don’t pile <\/strong> on the brakes or you’ll skid. Also, try to brake as much as possible in a straight line<\/strong>; never brake in a bend, to avoid spinning out. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– Drive at your own speed<\/strong>, there’s no point in trying to keep up with the other cars, your speed is the right one. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

– Anticipate bends<\/strong>, avoid abrupt changes of direction and drive smoothly. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Please note: the Col de la Croix de Fer <\/strong> is closed<\/strong> in winter. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

We also advise you to check the weather, road and traffic conditions before setting off. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
