Getting to La Toussuire by car couldn’t be easier: from the A43 Maurienne motorway, take exit 27 towards Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

After that, it’s just 17 kmp<\/strong> to get to our station from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, or around 25 minutes<\/strong>. It’s an easy<\/strong> climb, with a wide<\/strong>, safe<\/strong> road and no vertigo-inducing precipices<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div>

– Street of Fondeurs<\/strong> behind the Le Perce Neige building<\/strong>. You’ll find a recharging point with 4 connections (2 double 22 KVA points). To connect, you’ll need your application. <\/p>\n<\/div>

– Hotel \/ Restaurant Les Soldanelles<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– CGH Alpaga residence<\/strong>: 2 charging stations, \u20ac25 for 4 hours. You don’t need an application to access it. You will need to go directly to the residence reception desk to make the payment and pick up the support for the terminal. Residence opening hours: every day from 8am to 12pm and from 2pm to 8pm <\/p>\n<\/div>

Driving in winter, between the mountain law and adapting the way you drive, how do you find your way around?<\/em> Don’t panic, we’ll explain everything. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

Since 1 November 2021, the French government has passed a law called the \u2018mountain law\u2019. But what does it involve? <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

This means that vehicles passing through or living in the areas covered by this law must have special equipment, with the aim of improving traffic flow in mountainous regions and enhancing your safety. All vehicles with four or more wheels <\/strong>are covered by this obligation: light vehicles, commercial vehicles, motor homes, coaches, buses and HGVs. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

This law applies from 1st November to 31st March<\/strong> each year. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Specific compulsory equipment<\/h2>\n<\/div>
\n

When you come to the mountains, you have a choice of specific equipment for driving on snow: <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– Snow tyres<\/strong>: All 4 wheels<\/strong> of the vehicle must be fitted.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– Chains<\/strong>: Chains must be fitted to the vehicle’s drive wheels<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– Socks<\/strong>: The pair of socks must be fitted to the vehicle’s drive wheels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

However, to prolong the life of your chains and socks, they should only be fitted when the roads are snow-covered. When the tarmac reappears, remove them.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

From 1st November 2024<\/strong>, tyres bearing only the M+S (Mud + Snow)<\/strong> marking will no longer be accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

How do I know when I’m entering an area covered by the mountain law? <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>

As soon as you enter or leave an area where special equipment is compulsory, you will see these signs at the side of the road. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Our advice for a smooth ascent in the snow: <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– Try to switch to the second gear quickly<\/strong> after starting.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– Accelerate gradually<\/strong>, preferably in a straight line to avoid skidding. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– For braking, engine braking is essential<\/strong>. If you have to brake, do it gradually<\/strong>, don’t pile <\/strong> on the brakes or you’ll skid. Also, try to brake as much as possible in a straight line<\/strong>; never brake in a bend, to avoid spinning out. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– Drive at your own speed<\/strong>, there’s no point in trying to keep up with the other cars, your speed is the right one. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

– Anticipate bends<\/strong>, avoid abrupt changes of direction and drive smoothly. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

Please note: the Col de la Croix de Fer is closed<\/strong> during the winter<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<\/div>
